KROHNE introduces PIA-link: a sustainable breakthrough in remote device management

HART-IP Gateway for remote commissioning, verification and diagnostics. Unexpected downtime, inefficient maintenance and hard-to-reach installations have been a challenge in industrial processes for years. With the launch of PIA-link®, KROHNE Belgium NV introduces an innovative solution that not only contributes to cost savings, but also to a lower ecological footprint. PIA-link is a HART-IP gateway that provides remote access to field instrumentation for commissioning, diagnostics and verification – without the need for a technician to be on site. This not only saves time, but also avoids unnecessary travel.

Smart technology, sustainable impact

Developed in collaboration with Polzer Automation Solutions, PIA-link uses proven industry standards such as HART and HART-IP. The gateway connects via a secure VPN tunnel to an ISO 27001-certified data centre in Germany and is only accessible to authorised users. This guarantees maximum data security and integrity.

‘With PIA-link, interventions can be carried out faster, more cost-effectively and in a more environmentally friendly manner,’ says Kurt Polzer, co-developer. ‘The technology fits in perfectly with our customers' sustainability goals.’

Typical applications:

  • Annual verifications and ISO inspections without process interruption
  • Maintenance in hard-to-reach locations such as offshore platforms
  • Flow meter verification in accordance with the Code of Good Practice
  • Monitoring of tanks, pipes and silos
  • Installations in sectors with high safety standards (chemical, food industry)

Key benefits of PIA-link:

  • Real-time monitoring of measuring instruments
  • Predictive maintenance prevents unexpected downtime
  • Secure data transfer with encryption and access control
  • User-friendly dashboards for reporting and collaboration
  • Fewer trips, lower CO₂ emissions and operational costs
